Visiting the MAG

The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) is pleased to welcome back visitors to the MAG. In response to the Government of Alberta’s latest public health measures the MAG has made some changes for visitation and in-person programs.

The MAG will remain open to the public during our regular hours and visitors age 12+ will be required to provide proof of vaccination, documentation of a medical exemption, or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service in accordance with the Alberta Government’s restriction exemption program. This applies to all gallery visitors and drop-in events/programs (miniMAG, MAGsparks, MAGnificent saturdays, talks/tours) as attendees can move freely around the building. All visitors to the building must wear masks and practice social distancing at all times.

For REGISTERED PROGRAMS (Day Camps, Home School, Zines for Teens, MAGsampler, Art Speaks, Beading Basics, School Programs) participants age 12-17 can take part in their activities without proof of vaccination, exemption or negative COVID-19 test.

Visitors are asked to please follow this code of conduct:

  • Do not visit the MAG if you are feeling unwell;
  • Follow physical distancing protocols (2 meters/6 feet) between visitors (with the exception of immediate family members residing in the same household);
  • Stay together with your group as you move through the exhibits;
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer throughout the facility;
  • Ask for assistance to make a shop purchase;
  • Limit personal belongings brought into the museum

The MAG has the pleasure of serving many communities within Central Alberta, many of which are considered at risk, and these restrictions are in place for the health and safety of all visitors and staff.
