As the MAG is in a City-owned facility, we are adhering to City of Red Deer policy and taking part in the provincial Restrictions Exemption Program. Visitors aged 12 and older will need to provide proof of vaccination, proof of vaccination exemption, or proof of a negative test result. Check out this blog post for information about visitation and program restrictions.

When planning your visit to the MAG, allow your group up to 1 hour to fully experience our exhibits.
The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) is pleased to welcome back visitors to the MAG. In response to the Government of Alberta’s latest public health measures the MAG has made some changes for visitation and in-person programs.
The MAG will remain open to the public during our regular hours and visitors age 12+ will be required to provide proof of vaccination, documentation of a medical exemption, or proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service in accordance with the Alberta Government’s restriction exemption program. This applies to all gallery visitors and drop-in events/programs (miniMAG, MAGsparks, MAGnificent saturdays, talks/tours) as attendees can move freely around the building. All visitors to the building must wear masks and practice social distancing at all times.
For REGISTERED PROGRAMS (Day Camps, Home School, Zines for Teens, MAGsampler, Art Speaks, Beading Basics, School Programs) participants age 12-17 can take part in their activities without proof of vaccination, exemption or negative COVID-19 test.
Visitors are asked to please follow this code of conduct:
The MAG has the pleasure of serving many communities within Central Alberta, many of which are considered at risk, and these restrictions are in place for the health and safety of all visitors and staff.
The staff at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery continue to monitor their own health on a daily basis. Should a member of the staff exhibit any symptoms or be in contact with anyone who is showing symptoms related to COVID-19, they immediately self-isolate for 14 days and alert health care professionals.
We are located between the Golden Circle and Recreation Centre, downtown Red Deer. We have a variety of scheduled art and history related exhibits, as well as a large collection of artefacts.
