The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery was so pleased and honoured to be part of the Organizing Committee for Powwow Times 1st Annual Red Deer International Powwow! This weekend was powerful as we left happy, healed and energized. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the regalia, in awe of the skill of the dancers, laughed heartedly with the Master of Ceremonies and re-found our heartbeats in the rhythm of the drums.
We would like to thank our community of Red Deer and Central Alberta! You gave the very best of yourselves and it showed. Over 100 volunteers completed one or more shifts. Volunteers came from Red Deer, Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Bentley, Caroline, Calgary, Leduc, Camrose and Edmonton. Huge Heartfelt thanks go out to all the Sponsors who gave money, gifts in Kind and volunteers to the event.
This International event was truly International as we had dancers and Head Staff from Western Canada, Tennessee and we even had an attendee from Germany! Here are the quick stats from the clickers the volunteers were using to record attendance. 5,584 people attended over the whole weekend!!
