Keeping the Creativity at Home with MAGnificent Saturdays - July 4, 2020
Today's MAGnificent Saturdays art activity for you to do at home:
Today you will be creating a landscape inspired by artist Annie Bradley Rich.
Historic local artist, Annie Bradley Rich arrived from Nova Scotia in 1920 to teach, before marrying and farming near Springbrook. Rich created many watercolour paintings of ocean-side scenes. Side note: Currently the parlour table of Annie’s family is on display for you to see inside the MAG’s permanent history exhibit “Remarkable Red Deer: Stories from the Heart of the Parkland”.
You can download the instructions here.
What You Need: Pencils, Mayfair paper, chalk pastels, and fixative.
Step 1. Draw a line across the middle of the page. Add a hilltop line. Add a shoreline. Feel free to use images of landscapes as inspiration.
Step 2. Draw a boat at the edge of the shoreline. Draw poles to the centre left side.
Step 3. Fill in colour of the sky, hill, water, and shore with chalk pastels. Smudge colour to blend.
Step 4. Draw in details such as a boat, figure, poles, rocks, and reflections in the water with pastels. Do not smudge details. And you have your landscape!
