This week's Work of the Week is:

Daphne Odjig, Hoop Dancer, 1974, 30/50, silkscreen print on paper, Gift of Dr. Kathleen Anderson Swallow, 1984.87.40

Daphne Odjig, Hoop Dancer

Consider this print to be a teaser of what’s to come in the fall! Hoop Dancer by renowned Anishinaabe artist, Daphne Odjig, gives a small glimpse of just one dance that is often performed at powwows. This fall we will be featuring stunning regalia of seven different powwow dances in an exhibition entitled Ochiwin, The Origins. We’ll be looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the museum for this exhibition. Keep your eye out for this artwork in our galleries.
