Art For Families - June 8, 2021

Today's art activity for you to do at home:

Patterns & Polyhedrons

On Tuesdays at 11am we go "live" on our YouTube and Facebook pages with art for #families.

Today we are going to combine 2D patterns drawings with 3-D paper craft to make some super interesting sculptures!

Don't forget to tag us on Facebook, Twitter @RedDeerMuseum or Instagram @rdmag #MAGsatathome with your creations! We'd love to see them.

DEFINITIONS

PATTERN: A regular repetition of lines, shapes, colours, or textures.

SHAPE: A two-dimensional figure in art.

FORM: A three-dimensional figure used in art.

Watch our YouTube for step-by-step demonstration!

You can download the instructions in a pdf format here.

What You Need: Polyhedron templates on cardstock, scissors, markers, glue.

Polyhedron templates

Step 1. Cut the polyhedron shapes out of cardstock—make sure to keep the tabs!

Step 2. Using markers, draw patterns on the outside of your shape!

Step 3. Fold your polyhedron shape along all of the outside lines before gluing.

Step 4. Put glue on the rounded tabs and assemble! Repeat steps with more shapes if you want to make multiple.
