Keeping the Creativity at Home with MAGnificent Saturdays - December 19, 2020

Today's MAGnificent Saturdays art activity for you to do at home:

Op-Art Reliefs

Time for a #MAGsatathome activity that requires minimal supplies. Drawing inspiration from artists like Bridget Riley and Marina Apollonio, we will be choosing some designs to cut out of cardboard and layer on top of each other to create mind-boggling patterned masterpieces!

Don't forget to tag us on Facebook, Twitter @RedDeerMuseum or Instagram @rdmag #MAGsatathome with your creations! We'd love to see them.

You can download the instructions here.

What You Need: Cardboard, good scissors, pencils, paint, and hot glue.

Step 1. Paint your first layer of cardboard, which will be your background.

Step 2.  Draw your designs—you can draw it out on paper first, or draw directly onto your cardboard.

Step 3. Cut out and paint your designs! Assemble with hot glue.

Step 4. You can add other elements to your composition with paint and more cardboard if you want. Ta-da!
