In 1909, Lord Robert Baden-Powell was approached by a group of determined young girls who wanted to participate in the Boy Scout movement. With the help of his sister, Lady Agnes Baden-Powell, the Girl Guide movement was formed. It was based on an initial vision to bring together members of all races and nations, and unite them in shared activities and attitudes.
