matt gould: totems of the masculine - male personages in leather, wool, wood and steel

Mar 8th, 2014 - May 11th, 2014

Using a cross-section of men from Central Alberta as his models and co-creators, textile artist, matt gould, has created a series of personal, narrative, totems.

Basing the work on drawings and collaborative work with his subjects, Gould has taken elemental, masculine materials such as raw leather, wool, wood and steel, to build narrative portraits of his subjects, all the while exploring the theme of "What makes you think you're a man?"

Opening reception & artist's talk: Sunday, March 9, 2014, 2pm
