MAG presents: Live Music-Silent Film

Oct 27th, 2014

7:00 pm - 11:59 pm

Join us at Fratter's Speakeasy for a one night only fundraiser in support of the Red Deer & District Museum Society featuring classic comedies of the silver screen & live piano score by Robert Bruce. There will be door prizes, silent auction and prizes for best costumes (costumes are not required to attend event but are encouraged).

It’ll be a fun evening of movies, entertainment, food, and of course, 1920s style! And here at the museum, we’re getting excited!

So excited in fact, that we have gone into our reference library to find an old Eaton’s 1927 reproduction catalogue to find out what fashion was like at the time! In there we found iconic fashion from the Roaring Twenties: Straight-cut dresses at a scandalous knee length, men in trousers and suits, and round rosy-cheeked faces framed by finger curls and round topped hats. We want to share what we found, so we’ve scanned pages from the reproduction catalogue and uploaded them to the left. Enjoy!

Tweet us your 1920s style #rdmag20s @RedDeerMuseum

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our fundraiser! We had great food courtesy of Fratters Speakeasy Venue, great entertainment with silent films courtesy of Robert Bruce.
