Join us for the Opening Reception of Glamour on December 1, 2017 from 7-9pm.

 

A revealing look at glamourous fashion and the fashion icons of Red Deer from the years 1890-2000+. Women and men were attuned to fashion of the time, their styles reflected current taste and trends. Explore the rich and diverse clothing collection of the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery and the history it holds.

Glamorous Film Screening: Join us for the screening of THE DRESSMAKER at Carnival Cinemas. Tickets on sale August 14th; cost of $8/members or $10/regular. A glamorous woman (Kate Winslet) returns to her small town in rural Australia. With her sewing machine and haute couture style, she transforms the women and exacts sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.

Glamour Challenge with Deirdre Ashenhurst: What do you really need to create a glamourous outfit? We have been saving supplies we think could make a spectacular outfit, gown or costume, our supplies cabinets will be opened and you can bring your own supplies.  Our challenge is for anyone daring enough to try, to come down and design your own glamorous creation.  You will have an opportunity to wear your creation to the opening of our Glamour exhibition on December 1, 2017. Sewing machines and assistance with trouble shooting will be on hand so don’t hold back let your imagination create!
