A Friend to All: A Celebration of Girl Guides in Central Alberta

Sep 14th, 2013 - Nov 11th, 2013

“A Guide is a friend to all and a sister to every other Guide…” The Guide Law, 1912

In 1909, Lord Robert Baden-Powell was approached by a group of determined young girls who wanted to participate in the Boy Scout movement. With the help of his sister, Lady Agnes Baden-Powell, the Girl Guide movement was formed. It was based on an initial vision to bring together members of all races and nations, and unite them in shared activities and attitudes.

Today, Girl Guides of Canada is an inclusive all-girl movement that enables girls to be confident, resourceful and courageous.
