Central Alberta Music Posters and CHED Charts
Every week Phil Hallet made his way to Crescendo Music, located in the Central Block, at 5008-50St, and picked up the week's CHED Chart of the top music. 630 CHED, a popular Edmonton radio station, released lists on the popularity of records, based on its survey of record sales in Alberta, correlated with listener requests.
Phil also collected posters of the Red Deer and Central Alberta music scene, advertising groups performing at various venues like The Happening, Varsity Hall in Sylvan Lake, and the Innisfail Moose Hall.
The gift captures an era lacking in the Museum's social history collection and provides an opportunity for exhibition in the future.
Do you have some great memories of the music scene in Central Alberta in the 1960s and 70s? We are collecting stories from this era, with a view to an exhibition in the future.
